Frequently Asked Questions

What are your rates?

My fee for each 50 minute session is based on the customary rates for mental health services in the San Francisco Bay Area and will be discussed during the free initial 15 minute phone consultation. I do reserve a portion of my sessions as sliding scale for marginalized individuals who cannot afford to access therapy at full cost. Please let me know if that is the case and we can explore this.

Are services available in-person or online?

I am currently only providing services via tele-health. I can provide telehealth services in the state of California.

Do you accept insurance?

I am currently not paneled with any insurance companies. Through One Life Counseling Center I am able to accept Medi-Cal Health Plan of San Mateo and Northern CA Kaiser insurance. Otherwise, if you have out of network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

The codes (standardized medical codes) to use to reference sessions with your insurance for reimbursement are 90834 (for in person sessions, 50-55 minutes) and 90834-95 (for telehealth, 50-55 minute sessions). You can call your insurance provider and ask them how much they’ll reimburse you for these sessions ahead of time if reimbursement is critical for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 48 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged for the full rate of the session.

What is your therapuetic style?

It is my belief that therapy happens through the supportive therapeutic relationship developed between my clients and myself, we are co-collaborators in the therapy process.  I strive to provide a safe space for my clients to explore the most vulnerable sides of themselves.  There are no judgments here, just acceptance and encouragement to dive into the darkest parts of ourselves to reveal paths to acceptance, healing, growth and transformation.

One key to growth is understanding and accepting who you are and where you are at this moment.  I will be there with you each step of the way to sit in those difficult emotions and navigate the obstacles that block you.  Self-acceptance can be powerful.  I will help you find the strengths that we will cultivate and create tools to help you move through your daily life with the things that you struggle with most.

There is no one size fits all when it comes to therapy.  Together, we will tailor our experience and create a unique relationship to what works best for you.

What are your credentials?

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#138938) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (#14684) in the state of California.

I am a certified Telemental Health Provider-Associate (CTMH-A) and Certified Trauma Professional (CTP). My education includes a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology (MS) from Notre Dame de Namur and a Master of Art in Psychology with a specialization in Criminology (MA) from The University of the Rockies.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to ask for and receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your therapy will cost, ahead of any scheduled services. Since the length of therapy is usually variable, my estimate will show my per-session costs as well as the maximum amount you would have to paid if your therapy goes for a full year.

The estimate costs are valid for 12 months from the date of the Good Faith Estimate, subject to any provisions for fee adjustments, in which case a new Fee Agreement consent form will be sent to you. This Good Faith Estimate will include service codes (my standard is for 50-minute sessions), and any diagnostic codes that may have been determined.
